Red White & Baytowne Celebration July 4th

The Village of Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin is celebrating Independence Day during the evening of July 4th with live music, kids' activities and a fireworks finale! Baytowne is big on fireworks on Tuesday evenings throughout the year. But, the 4th of July display is even more spectacular and not to be missed!

Make plans to come out for Red White & Baytowne on Friday night for great live music, children's activities and a special fireworks show over the lagoon. 

Hurricane Preparedness Pet Fair at Alaqua Unleashed JUN 21

The 2014 Hurricane Season is here and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Walton County Emergency Management, and Alaqua Animal Refuge are teaming up to prepare Walton County pet owners to have a plan in place in the event of an evacuation.

Whether your pets are big or small, make sure:
•      Their immunizations are current and you have a copy of their records
•      They have a proper identification tag
•      They have a safe place to stay

Digital Graffiti 2014 Photo Gallery and Storylines

Digital Graffiti at Alys Beach gives artists a complex canvas to explore the intersections of art and architecture - projecting digital video creations onto the town's white walls. Once darkness falls, the town is set aglow each June as artists compete for $10,000 in cash prizes. A panel of judges select six award winners including Best of Show; Best in  Florida; Curator’s Choice; and three Honorable Mentions.

A Local Fourth of July Weekend Tradition Finds Its Sea Legs

“Whenever two sailboats are on the water at the same time,” says Charlie Thornton, “it’s a race.  The captains may not admit it, but each wants to go faster than the other.”

Some things never change.

Last Fourth of July local sailors gathered for the legendary Rags to Riches Regatta, a Hobie Cat Race with a course between Grayton Beach and Seagrove. Seventeen captains showed up with their crew and 16-foot Hobies to negotiate the famously rowdy Gulf.

Inaugural Boat Launch & Fishing Clinic at Kellogg Bayfront Park June 12

The Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA) of Northwest Florida State College in partnership with Walton County Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Walton County Tourist Development Council, will hold an inaugural kayak/paddleboard launch to promote the public recreational use of the newly renovated Kellogg Bayfront Park in Santa Rosa Beach. Following a leisurely paddle around the Choctawhatchee Bay, the afternoon of outdoor activities will continue with the first installment of fishing Eco-Adventures at Kellogg Park, The Bayside Fishing Clinic.
