 Who knew sheets were so complicated

I know. I've been trying to train Mr. DD for years and he just doesn't get it. Guess it's not high on his list of priorities. :dunno::lol:

not complicated over here. the sheet goes on whichever way it lands, end of story. no folding back fancy stuff, just put it on.

the only rule for me is that the sheet be a very nice high thread count wonderfully wonderful cotton, slightly worn.

OMG... I thought my family was the only one to have this debate!
Pretty side down, so when you fold it over and get in, it's all pretty and matching with the bottom! Nobody ever actually sees the top of a top sheet on a made bed, it's covered by blankets or a comforter, so why put the pretty part where it's just going to be covered??? This has been my logic since I was a teen, and my family thinks I'm a weirdo. I'm so glad to know I'm not alone!!!

The sheet direction/fold is easy - I still can't do hospital corners to Grandma Scooterbug's satisfaction.

Bless the inventors of fitted bottom sheets! :D

Wow, I guess my way is a little over the top.

1.) Iron sheets.
2.) Take fitted sheet and pin corners to corners of mattress. Pull down and tuck, making sure not to tuck in the dust ruffle or the dust ruffle cover.
3.) Remove pins.
4.) Fold top sheet in half good side up, suffer for fashion biatches, and place on half of bed.
5.) Using a yard stick measure from the middle out at both head and foot of bed making sure that the top sheet is perfectly square and centered.
6.) Gingerly pull top of fold to other side of bed.
7.) Pin corners to mattress corners. This keeps the sheet in place while tucking.
8.) Pull the end of the sheet hanging over the head of the bed at a 45 degree angle and tuck.
9.) Take side of sheet and carefully fold under excess and tuck up to about a 1/4 of the way from the head of the bed. I recommend using a pizza paddle for this as it ensures the tuck does not result in unsightly wrinkles.
10.) Repeat on other side of bed.
11.) Remove pins.
12.) Place yard stick from earlier perpendicular to the top of the sheet at exactly 20 inches from the top of the bed.
13.) Pull sheet down over the yard stick.
14.) Place pillows with ironed pillow cases on bed.
15.) While holding the yard stick in place pull the sheet back over the pillows.

Ta-da! All done, now you can add a light quilt, comforter, or just leave as is.
