Yes in the rural area I grew up in North Florida where the majority watch Fox News and then go to church on Sunday they were absolutely devastated by Covid because of refusing to get the vaccine. I am a retired health care provider and it just makes no sense to me. Yes there will always be side effects and that will never change because the human body is so very complex. What is interesting about trump is that he deregulated some of the process to approve the vaccine so that we can save lives then he went in the opposite direction which cost many lives. I think we all know how trump rolls. Science is the best thing we have in healthcare followed by most of the people in health care. Arguing with Science for some political purpose is wrong. I think we all know how Lou rolls :)
I don't think you know how science works

Yes I know. You only care about well very little other than you. One of my friends was not old or sickly. Another was my age. Anyway your response is exactly why I gave up trying to connect with you.
So you didn't want to try to find middle ground because people I didn't know and had no knowledge of died. Makes sense

Facts matter. Science, vaccines and basic public health measures made a difference for lowering infection rates and deaths in certain communities and states. Significantly. Here is just one of many reports on research and analysis. Reading is an essential skill. Antivax is ridiculous. If you had listened to scientists from the US and all over the world you would know that the vaccine had been under development for many years with the technology in place. An amazing collaborative achievement but also very intensive, furthering the advancement of vaccines and medicine in all areas.

"The United States has the dubious distinction of suffering the highest COVID-19 mortality rate among the world’s high-income countries. But that national average — 372 deaths per 100,000 people as of last summer — hides the fact that pandemic outcomes differed greatly from state to state.

In a comparison that controlled for demographic differences between states, Arizona’s COVID-19 mortality rate of 581 deaths per 100,000 residents was almost four times higher than Hawaii’s, where there were 147 deaths per 100,000 residents. Death rates in the hardest-hit U.S. states resembled those of countries with no healthcare infrastructure whatever. States that fared best had rates on a par with countries such as Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, which worked zealously to keep their pandemic death tolls low... "

This is one of many things I dislike about the left, you provide a link that is either dishonest on its face or they aren't taking all of the facts into account.
America counted everyone that died while having covid as a covid death, why would they do that
The first person in their mid 20's to die from covid was a head on motorcycle collision with a vehicle, try to wrap your head around that, how do you call that a covid death?
Every hospital in America is given a certain amount of money for each death that happens within their walls. Why would our government pay more for people that died with covid as opposed to other deaths. Why was the criteria 'with covid' and not 'from covid'?

Were the other countries counting their deaths the same way?

Facts matter

Our covid deaths were undercounted by a lot overall. As we're certain other countries trying to play games with numbers. A pandemic is not a time for BS. Sure we had inconsistencies across the country. But we have enough data to be able to examine the overall response and outcomes. Extremely important for preparing for the next one. This article is only one small example of an overall review. Research will continue to examine data as well as long term impacts on long covid and health. A few hundred Americans per day are still dying.

The political games employed during a worldwide pandemic was the most devastating thing I've ever seen in my lifetime. Proof that disinformation is deadly and destructive to the lives of so many people. It is as UNAmerican as it gets. How many Americans died needlessly? The pandemic exposed many problems in our country from corporate greed and inadequate supply chains to poor health care resources and much more. It also exposed public health officials, teachers, nurses and doctors, front line workers and others to threats and immediate danger from people who used disinformation to further "freedom". Many people are to blame for the unnecessary political drama and US death rates from trump to Fox, as well as right wing leaders and their media.
Once again with the political agenda. No one told anyone not to get the vaccine, that was a personal choice made on an individual level. Saying its UnAmerican is just stupid, having a choice is as American as it gets. The more you paid attention the clearer it became that this was pandemic of the old and sickly and a few of the extremely young. Those are the facts and the numbers support that
