For that matter we wouldn't be speaking german had we dodged WWII, though I am glad we fought in that one.

Actually, we would - they were planning to conquer America. In true German fashion they already had people training and extensively learning about the particular area of the US they would be occupying/running.

I am of the opinion we could have rolled them up along with the rest of Europe. Then we would all be sprekken sie deutsch. As far as what the Germans were planning and it being a forgone conclusion, well I doubt they were planning to lose. It is all moot anyway, maybe we wouldn't have gotten the bomb with the germans being so close and more motivated (were we not at war) and infinite other scenarios. I apologize for bringing it up really lol.

Maybe Not to you, but I think anyone who places that uniform on is a hero. Those who support and defend your right to speak your mind will forever be heroes in any sense of the word. Look at the record,, over 2/3rd's of the worlds population cannot speak there minds on sites like this. Our freedoms do not come cheap it takes heroes to support and defend your rights. All those GI's who put there necks on the line, your uncle & his friends included are all heroes to me. They are the ones who paid the price for our freedoms. Heroes all.

:clap::clap: How anybody can rationalize that John McCain was not a war hero is beyond me.

2/3rd's of the world's population doesn't have access to the technology to then be unallowed to speak their mind on a site like this. It seems to me that the right to speak one's mind, as an American, is a domestic issue. I hardly think the vietnamese were a threat to that. I do not believe we would be speaking russian or chinese had we not gotten involved. For that matter we wouldn't be speaking german had we dodged WWII, though I am glad we fought in that one.

I've got to agree with this.
I also have to say that that thinking enemies abroad are currently (or even in recent history) threatening our freedom of speech is nothing more than a smokescreen created to shield us from the fact that our rights are being stolen right out from under our noses. IMO, our biggest threat to free speech, habeas corpus, right to assemble, right to bear arms, etc... is located quite simply, in Washington DC. :sosad:

Certainly none of that is the fault of the brave men who're just doing their jobs, but we need to stop fooling ourselves into thinking we sent them into harms way to defend us from being taken captive. We sent them there to distract us from what's really going on, slowly and methodically being taken captive by our own government. Patriot Act anyone?

Your argument is not elegant at all. I am amused at its folly. What do you think technology is anyway? Do you mean computers? Why not word of mouth? I?ll bet the first time a language was spoken it was new technology. The same is for the written & printed word. Just what sort of technology do you need to be oppressed? Do you so sanctimoniously think those who do not have access to a computer cannot be oppressed? Oh, they cannot speak, write or print therefore it is OK, is that your argument? Only those who can utilize a web site can be oppressed?

As for my statement, Yes indeed, The men and women of the US armed forces who have fought for this great country and are indeed, Heroes. If I am the only one who feels this way, so be it.

The technology required for people to "speak there minds on sites like this." (your exact words) is indeed computers. If by "not elegant at all" you mean "correct", then I agree. I think you forgot or didn't understand what you previously posted USING A COMPUTER! Not speaking into the air, not writing, not smoke signalling, or beating it out on drums which are all technology, yes, but not the one you cited. The bold part is just odd. Why would you feel you are the only one who feels this way?:dunno:
