You're sidestepping the issue and presenting a kind of strawman because you know full well it's not criticism that I object to. Furthermore, if you put this racist/birther harrassment in the category of criticism then you are truly more ignorant than I could have possibly imagined. Shine on!

Fortunately that movement never went mainstream, because there aren't enough ignorant psychos in this country. I have repeatedly said that this issue should not be what conservatives should be concentrating on, that we should stick to the issues that really mean something such as runnaway spending, bailouts and the debt. But the blame for the three year long controversy should be laid squarely at the feet of Obama. He clearly could have stopped this long ago and used it to divert attention from the real issues and paint opponents as nut-jobs. Hopefully we can now move on to address the real issues.

For the record I have not been on the "birther" bandwagon, but I don't think those who do are so much racist as disgusted and grasping any straw that opposes Obama. And you could be a full scale birther and still be libertarian. Libertarianism is a political philosophy that upholds individual liberty, especially freedom of expression and action.[1] Libertarianism includes diverse beliefs and organizations–all advocate either the minimization or the elimination of the state, and the goal of maximizing individual liberty and freedom.

What in that definition prohibits someone from questioning whether the President is a citizen or not?

He is qualified because a majority of voters said he was, He is eligible because he is an American over 35. What I question are his policies that are bankrupting the country and taking our freedoms. Hopefully a majority of voters will agree in 2012 and render him unqualified.

So are you stating that every time some nut job comes up with a conspiracy theory with no bases in truth it is going to be this or any future presidents fault if he or she ignores it? Should the preceding president have dropped everything just to prove to some idiots he did not orchestrate 911, or send teams of researchers to produce his missing military records?

You might want to read your Constitution. You have every right to say stupid, hurtful and inappropriate things as long as you do not threaten someone, libel/slander someone or place someone else in danger. "Well reasoned" is usually in the eye of the beholder.
