Coastal Dune Lakes Documentary at Camp Helen State Park Jun 19

The Friends of Camp Helen State Park and Lake Powell Community Alliance will show a film about coastal dune lakes at 6:30 p.m. on June 19, 2015, at the Park’s Lodge.  The film “Coastal Dune Lakes: Jewels of Florida’s Emerald Coast” by Elam Stoltzfus and the Live Oak Production

Group focuses on the dune lakes of Northwest Florida, a project for which Stoltzfus spent the last year and a half.  The event is free and open to the public.  State Park entrance fees are waived.  Elam Stoltzfus will be present to discuss the film.

30A 10K and One-Mile Fun Run Calls for Charity Applications

The Fourth Annual 30A 10k and One Mile Fun Run, the official RRCA State 10K Championship Race, calls for charities and non-profits to apply for funding by June 10, 2015. This family-friendly non-profit event takes place every Thanksgiving weekend in Rosemary Beach. All proceeds from the three-days of festivities are given to 501c3 charities. Applicants should apply online by June 10 at 30A10k.com.
 

Konstantino Trunk Show at McCaskill & Company June 19-20

Fine jewelry enthusiasts will have the opportunity to enjoy the vast collections designed by Konstantino Sioulas at McCaskill & Company. The gallery will host the Konstantino Trunk Show on June 19-20 from 10 am - 5:30 pm. Konstantino's sterling silver and 18K gold pieces are individually handcrafted in Athens using the ancient engraving and etching techniques found in early Greek jewelry. 

National Marina Day at Bluewater Bay Marina June 13

The Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA) and Bluewater Bay Marina are hosting the second annual National Marina Day celebration on Saturday, June 13 from noon-4 pm. The event is free and open to the public, with fun activities that highlight our connection to Choctawhatchee Bay. All ages can enjoy fish printing, touch-tanks with local aquatic life, paddle board tours, a volunteer OYSTER reef build, and more!
 

Digital Graffiti Lights Up Alys Beach Jun 4-6

The annual Digital Graffiti Festival brings together artists from around the world to showcase their digital artworks on Alys Beach’s striking white architecture from June 4-6, 2015. Finalists for the 2015 festival hail from eight countries. The artists gather in Alys Beach at dusk to showcase their digital artwork and vie for cash prizes totaling $10,000. Click to buy tickets!

Update: For a Better South Walton Community Meetings

The grassroots organization “For a Better South Walton” is moving forward with community meetings with the goal of exploring South Walton's future and pursuing incorporation for a self-governing city.  The second community meeting was held Thursday night in Seascape. Kelly Mossburg of Seagrove Beach led the meeting and described in detail many possible options that would better our beloved community of South Walton.
 
“If we stay on the current path we are on, we may wake up one day and realize this isn’t the special place we know and love anymore,” Kelly stated.
