Food, Folks & Fun: Lunch Hour at The Red Bar

South Walton is a food lover's paradise, and the SoWal crew takes advantage daily. Nearing lunchtime last Tuesday we had just visited Amy Huff of Fashionably Late. After a quick interview and photos at her new boutique at Uptown Grayton, we were starving and our creative juices were flowing. We did the usual, “Where do y’all want to go for lunch?” It's an easy decision when you're so close to "downtown" Grayton and The Red Bar.

Food For Thought Back to School Food Drive Aug. 20

Food For Thought Outreach expects to serve over 1,200 students each week through its backpack program during the 2015-2016 school year - a significant 56% increase from last school year’s 770 students enrolled in the program. Every month, Food For Thought sends over 50,000 food items out to help battle food insecurity in Okaloosa and Walton counties. Add the year-to-year growth to the increased demand for assistance from Food For Thought’s summer outreach programs, and that can empty a warehouse very quickly.

McCaskill & Company Showcases Unique Designs

When you walk through the double doors at McCaskill & Company the first word that comes to mind is elegance. The gallery’s open floor plan is dotted with glass cases encapsulating fine gemstones and precious metals with the lighting aimed just right to make them sparkle. Fresh cut flowers bring the relaxed seating area in front of the fireplace to life while large pewter-framed mirrors afford frequent glimpses of your reflection adorned with fine jewels.

Made in SoWal: Fusion Art Glass

Everyone likes to take a walk on the beach, but some of us have a real need to walk on the beach. We crave a connection with nature and feel the beach is a great place to do it. We don't just look at a dune and see a pretty sight. We see something that touches our souls. That's true of Russ Gilbert. He moved here over 20 years ago from nearby Chipley and hasn't regretted it for a second.

The Kitty Castle Is A Dream With A View

It was the summer of 1986 when David and Susan Lowery visited South Walton for the first time. Traveling from Dallas, with little money to spare, they remember it as the first family vacation they could afford.

While staying in Sandestin, they saw an advertisement for Bud and Alley’s and found their way to the restaurant on Scenic 30A. One visit was all it took and they began staying in Seaside as often as possible.
