Changing Seasons and Boatloads of Fish

Today was the first day you could really tell the seasons are changing. It was a blustery, overcast & cool fall day. Almost slick calm on the beach but choppy/sloppy once you got a mile out.

We stayed up in close and got a nice limit of Red Snapper, a Black Snapper and a King on this mornings four-hour trip but my folks worked for their fish. We had four more Kings on that used the rough weather to the fishes' advantage and lost some big Snappers as well. Luckily for us anglers these days are fewer than the pretty ones here in SoWal!

We have had some pretty days since I came back from the quick trip to visit my daughter in Maine. Even today's bluster was WAY nicer than a couple of the days we were there. This sure is a great place to live and fish! Here are some pics to prove the fishing's been great the past week.

These guys come down every fall to fish for two days and fill the freezer.

Day one was beautiful, warm and calm with a pile of Kings, Red Snappers and even a big Red Grouper on a morning four-hour trip.

Day two was blowy and rough.. we made it a quick two-hour trip and caught 'em some more Snappers, a big Spanish and a Bonita.

Pretty again the next day and these families had the kids catching a PILE of Vermillions along with some Pinks.

This father/Son team got Vermillions, Pinks and a Scamp on an afternoon three-hour trip.

These two anglers left the kids on the beach but let 'em get in the picture with a pile of Pinks, five Scamps, a Lane and a BIG Red Grouper.

Long time repeats w/ a limit of Snapper on a Blowy morning.

This morning was the first time the beach surface temp read under 80 degrees on my machine. While I'm sure it will jump back up after a sunny day or two it will also start to get the Flounders and Kings moving into their Fall routine.

We caught the first flounder of the fall last Saturday on a live bait snapper fishin' and the Kings bit pretty good today in the 20 minutes we fished for 'em. Both of those species are always SO much fun in the fall run........ And fish I really look forward to chasing!
