Calling all ladies! Habitat for Humanity Walton County announces tickets are on sale for its 6th Annual Hard Hats & High Heels luncheon, which will be held on Friday, February 2 at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Made possible by presenting Sponsor, Hilton Sandestin Beach Gold Resort & Spa, and founding sponsor, The Merchants of Rosemary Beach, the inspirational luncheon will kick off the Spring Women Build Season and support female empowerment. Featured speaker, Tami Groth, will share her inspirational story about her frightening experience, the importance of self-care and lessons learned along the way.

“This year’s message of self-care is important for all women, especially moms, who often give selflessly of themselves to their own detriment,” says Teresa Jones, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Walton County.

As this year’s featured speaker, Tami will share how a recent life-altering event paused her fast-paced, full throttle and “I’m in” lifestyle, and illuminated the importance of self-care and slowing down. A 30-year female financial executive, community and civic leader in Okaloosa and Walton County, Tami has uplifted and brought success to many local businesses. Sharing her expertise and knowledge, she has made a positive impact on our community’s economic growth and expansion.

As President of Okaloosa County for Community Bank, she is a top performer and has received the Bank’s Rainmaker Award for excellence in business development for eight consecutive years. A University of Nebraska-Lincoln undergraduate and LSU Graduate School of Banking
Alumni, Tami’s story is a journey filled with lessons for all.

The event will begin with a reception, which includes a signature drink, and interactive games and prizes. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in the wine pull, She Nailed It cornhole game, and chance to draw a key to win the grand prize—a vacation rental stay with Newman-Dailey Resort Properties. In addition to the moving keynote address, the luncheon will include Habitat for Humanity Walton County award recognitions, including Power Women of the Year, Glamour to the Hammer Award, and Who Built You Up Award. The award winners will receive a special custom-made award from artist Veila Lala.

In addition, the annual event kicks off the Spring Women Build Season. Through a series of events, women can gain skills while raising funds for Habitat for Humanity Walton County’s Women Build initiative. On Friday, February 23, ladies are invited to participate in the first Women Build Day of the year, and volunteer at a construction site being led by women at Hope Village in DeFuniak Springs, Fla.

On International Women’s Day, March 8, women can learn new skills by participating in the Power Tool Training Workshop, allowing females to learn, and become comfortable with using power tools. The Spring Women Build Season concludes on May 10 with another Women’s Build Day at Hope Village. When complete, Hope Village will include 12 single-family homes that will provide a forever home to families who desperately need quality, affordable housing.
