Due to stupidity..I washed my phone, I have to buy a new one. I really am not sure which way to go. Everyone seems to direct me to a smart phone, but I have no real need for one or so I think. So give me your best ideas!

Good luck with the decision, I still have my old nokia, that does not even have a camera, still going strong for what I need, calls, text and that is all I want or need. I just hope it never dies.

It is probably to late for your phone, but others might could use this advice in the future. I know of two people last week that got their phones wet and put them in the rice and their phones worked after they removed the phones from the rice. Good luck!

when i had a nokia, I got it wet several times. I've taken them apart, let all the pieces sit out for a while, put it back together and worked fine. Interesting about the rice method...who knew?

I tried the rice and it did not work. I did love that phone!!!! I have even looked on Craig's list for one like it. No luck. Yesterday the guy at Verizon was attempting to make me feel 18th century if I did not have a smart phone. It would be lots of fun, but is it a real need?

If you don't want a smart phone and don't think you will use it, don't cave to pressure and save some major $$.

IMO 90% of the appeal of those phones seems to be showing them off and using them to be rude in social settings.

Best way to figure out of you would use one is to borrow someone's and test it out for a couple hours.

I must say I love my Ipod touch (basically an Iphone w/out phone service) for when I travel, but manage just fine with a basic phone that just makes calls and lets me text. And it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

I like the way Scooty thinks - I'm enjoying the IPod touch right now and can text for free from it (where there's service). My cell is basic and I chose not to pay for texting. Cheap and I have all I need! Wouldn't be enough for most folks though.......
