Luke Bryan's free spring break shows in Panama City Beach to end after 2015

After spending the better part of a decade releasing spring break-themed albums and performing massive free concerts in Panama City Beach, country music star Luke Bryan is leaving the spring break life behind.
Bryan -- whose two-day spring break concerts in Panama City Beach have arguably marked the peak of the city's college party scene since 2007 -- has announced that 2015 will be the last year for his spring break shows at Spinnaker Beach Club.
In a video announcement posted to his web site, Bryan announced his 2015 tour dates and his last two scheduled Panama City Beach shows, set for March 11 and 12.

"We've had such an amazing run down there, it has been something something that I've looked forward to year after year," Bryan said. "Last year was just amazingly over the top, I think somebody said there were over 200,000 people on the beach. We feel like it'll be that way again this year, and we just wanted to end it on a big bang."

Bryan will also release what he called his last spring break album, aptly titled "Checking Out," on March 10.
The spring break shows will also come just after Bryan returns to the states from a European tour that will take him to Sweden, Norway, Germany, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The rest of his 2015 tour includes several performances at major U.S. sports arenas including Detroit's Ford Field, Denver's Mile High Stadium, Chicago's United Center, San Francisco's Levi's Stadium, Cincinnati's Paul Brown Stadium and Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville.

Bryan's announcement comes as local officials in Panama City Beach and Bay County have each passed new laws aimed at taming spring break behavior and cleaning up the area's image.

A city ordinance passed in October 2014 will require organizers to install a fence around the event and make more allowances for security and medical personnel than had been required in the past. It is unclear whether these laws affected Bryan's decision to discontinue the concerts.
