Just don't go through Atlanta. No problem with gas in the panhandle of FL, except the idea of paying $3.629 per gallon.

Dune Allen TT is down to $3.55/gallon as of this afternoon.

I think the only problem we have with gas around here is holding out and then buying just to watch it drop in price 30 minutes later. :bang:

We're finally getting a bit better. A few stations have gas, and people have stopped hoarding it/topping off. The prices aren't that bad--I think regular was $3.80-3.99 here, but we only have regular.

The latest news just said that it will probably be about 2 weeks before it gets back to normal.

NoHall is right. Things are better in Atlanta but not back to normal yet -- AND the stations near the highways and other main thoroughfares are more likely to be out. If you're coming through Georgia, better tank up before you hit the Perimeter (I-285, which circles Atlanta). Good luck!

From what I've heard, on I-85 south of Atlanta it's hard to find gas until you get to Hogansville. Milemarkers 66, 64, 61, 56, 51, 47 and 41 (Newnan), and 35 (Grantville, due to Newnan people driving south looking for gas) have had shortages. From milemarker 28 (Hogansville) to the state line it seems okay (although there might be one gas station out). We haven't had any trouble getting gas on I-85 in Alabama or the on back roads to the beach.

I know you are not coming Memphis way as that is out of the way but most places have gas here and it is as low as $3.34 a gallon right around us. We go 65 through Birmingham and we always fill up just the other side of Birmingham at what used to be Cowboys right off the interstate. It is called Kangaroos now. It is either exit 113 or exit 114. I was told that is one of the least expensive, when it was Cowboys anyway.

Speaking for myself, near Atlanta we don't care about price right now. We're just happy to get gas so that we can get to work.

BR, please don't tell the oil companies that you don't care about the price of gas. I am not happy about paying $3.559/gal (most recent fillup), but I am glad that it is no longer $4+/gal. Diesel just dropped to $4/gal here.

Speaking like some of our wonderful realtors around here, "Now is a good time to buy." Now may be a good time to buy into some of the major oil companies and oil. Potential profits there could offset any gas price increases at the pump. Like many stocks, they are down now, but their fundamentals are good. Some project oil to be back up to $150 by December.

Interesting idea, dunelaker, but if everyone starts buying oil, prices will increase. Why not get everyone to sell their oil stocks, thereby decreasing the price of oil?

Oil prices and demand continue to fall. The people projecting it will be up are the $%#*^%$ commodoties speculators and oil company shareholders who make $ off high oil prices.

Far better to support and invest in alternative fuels - gives us options besides destroying our beaches and environment with offshore drilling and being held hostage by foreign oil!
