I don't recall that plan. :dunno: There are several reasons why I'm unlikely to visit anywhere in the States anytime soon and NO none of them are due to fear, lol. ;-)

The plot thickens! C'mon, c'mon, you can't leave us hanging. Spill the beans! We want reasons! :rotfl:

Sheesh I didn't mean to pique curiosity, lol. Okay I'll divulge one major one that makes going anywhere long distance a bit of a challenge. I don't have a licence to drive- I never have; likely never will. Much too nervous; think of too many things I could do wrong driving that could hurt someone or worse. Go ahead and try to imagine going somewhere you've never been, all by yourself and no mode of transport once you get there. I'm pretty sure hitchhiking is out. :D

SoWal is the perfect place for you. Lots of restaurants and bike trails. Let's not forget the beach....why would you want to go anywhere else???

Isn't that the truth! When we get to the beach we throw the car keys away. I think that's one of the best things about going to the beach (among a MILLION best things), that you don't need to rely on a stupid car every five minutes. I know everyone in my family is glad not to see me drive for days on end!

Talking about reading and HP made me think of this:
What's the best book you've read this year?
Mine's a tie: The Memory of Running and The Tender Bar.

Peapod - I had to resurrect this thread and thank you for recommending The Tender Bar. I just finished it & absolutely loved it. The various characters were very entertaining - the author really brought them to life.

Oh, so glad to hear that! I wish I could talk everyone I know into reading that book--I loved every page, honestly.
And I'll refrain from making any puns about Martini liking a book about a bar, I promise. ;-)

I read these too this summer and I liked Davinci the best. I really wanted to like the Historian more but man that is a heavy read. I will read it again one of these years. I am planning on reading Map of Bones next year. Really my favorite to read is James Patterson.
