I have an Uncle who behaves just like you. He has offended everyone in the family no matter what political persuasion just for the hell of it. Most of my family try to avoid him. When I was a kid he was good to me. Took me fishing and hunting. Boy did he like them hound dogs! So I was the only one who would help him fry fish and venison for reunions. I did not like his politics. He reminds me of you. I doubt you are the same person in real life but you and I would argue until the cows come home. It would not be any fun at all. I am southern to the bone. I am country to the bone. I am old. Since trump I vote all democrat. I use to have more patience with people. I would rather eat fried mullet or fried catfish than Mahi Mahi. I am North of the Bay. It would be interesting but I will decline for now. Maybe one day you will relax a little on your principles and politics. I really have no patience for it. I do appreciate the offer though
My dad never met a stranger but he was hard on me. Very stubborn man. I don't think he liked me very much. My mother the same way. It was like you say kind of a sin to be friends with you kids. I did not like their methods of raising kids. They seriously provided very little emotional support and very little physical support. They beat the hell out of us. Insulted the hell out of us. I tell you this because I know we humans can be better than the previous generation. In your case I am not so sure
All I can say is I could not disagree more with just about everything you say. Maybe the one thing we can agree on is that not one politician is going to fix the problems. We are a representative democracy meaning we elect people that represent us and make laws. Without a democracy there will be no we the people. It would be their (authoritarian or dictator) way or the highway. I will never understand why people can't see that. You must believe that we the people are too stupid to elect the right people. The fact is we do not always get it right. Politicians are humans and they make mistakes. Some are just plain bad to the core. You think Biden is that. I think trump is that. How did we get here? I assume it is the bias in the media, the outright lying to the people and the abuse of power where checks and balances no longer work. That is where the republicans are right now. I am sorry about that because I use to be all republican all the time. I will never go back to voting republican in my life time unless a miracle comes along. I prefer a 3rd party to be very honest. I have really lost patience with the left and right stuff. If we do not find a middle and have moderate behaviors we are going to lose our quality of life...
So you constantly speak of middle ground and putting politics aside for the advancement of our species / country. When given this very direct opportunity you decline. Wouldn't you say this is the problem? Of coarse we would argue politics but I don't really want to talk politics on any level but generalities, I have no desire to argue with you. You never know I may be exactly what you thought or I may be the exact opposite. Pick the place and the time and I'll be there (I'd like to keep it to a lunch). At any moment in time if you don't like it or feel any kind of a way you just get up and leave, no harm no foul, but at least you can say you tried. Either way you win, you can come on here and say 'yep he's the worst' or you may come on here and say 'hes not all bad'. I'm extending the olive branch in a effort to close the gap that divides us.
