The Friends of Eden Gardens State Park invite the public to the annual Eden Gardens State Park Christmas Candlelight Open House on Saturday, December 17 from 5pm to 8pm. Enjoy the traditional walk through the luminaries through the Park to the Historic Wesley House and it’s beautifully decorated rooms. You'll be greeted by carolers and guided throughout the house to see and hear about each beautifully decorated room. Guests can even vote on their favorite room.

Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance (CBA), Friends of South Walton Sea Turtles and partners are co-hosting coastal cleanup efforts, in collaboration with the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup, to reduce the negative impacts of marine debris (trash) along coastal ecosystems in Walton County and Okaloosa County, FL.
Walton County Coastal Dune Lake Advisory Board is hosting Coastal Dune Lake Day at Grayton Beach State Park on Saturday, September 17 from 10:00 am til 4:00 pm. The community is invited to come out for a day long celebration of South Walton area coastal dune lakes on the shores of Western Lake in Grayton Beach.
State park personnel were in Walton County on June 7 to hear from the public about a 10-year plan under consideration for Deer Lake State Park in southeastern Walton County. About a dozen members of the public attended the meeting, which was held in the pavilion at Eden Gardens State Park.

Thanks to the hard work of a dedicated group of locals, South Walton has added an entire layer of recreation through artificial reef environments. The South Walton Artificial Reef Association (SWARA) has installed the first set of near shore reefs off our beaches.

The Gulf World Marine Institute stranding team recently released a fully rehabilitated loggerhead sea turtle into the Gulf of Mexico in Panama City Beach. The stranded sea turtle was rescued in March of this year and was found to be emaciated and lethargic. After a few months of rehabilitation at Gulf World Marine Institute the sea turtle was medically cleared and then released back into the Gulf on June 24, 2015, along with a few human friends standing by for support.
