The beloved Flutterby Festival, produced by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, celebrates its 33rd year of the migration of the Monarch Butterfly through our area.
Join the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance for a Coastal Dune Lakes Paddle Clean-Up on Eastern Lake.
Beginning at 9AM on October 31st at the Eastern Lake Boat Ramp on Lakeview Drive, attendees are encouraged to bring their paddle craft and personal safety gear. A very few kayaks will be available to first comers. Please RSVP to CBA@nwfsc.edu.
Do not forget your water bottle, sunscreen, hat and bugspray. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided.
Walton County Board of County Commissioners recognizes the ecological importance of the globally rare and imperiled coastal dune lakes and have made a local dedication making October 27-31, 2025, as Coastal Dune Lakes Week!
While in South Walton, be sure to stray a bit off the beach and visit Eden Gardens State Park in Point Washington on Tucker Bayou. It's a beautiful slice of old Florida and the historic Wesley Mansion sits on the grounds of the park and is open for tours.
We can trace the Wesley family’s shared history with Tucker Bayou and the surrounding community to the late 1800s when they arrived in Point Washington around 1885.

Keep Walton County Beautiful will host this year’s International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at three regional beach accesses: Inlet Beach, Dune Allen Beach and Miramar Beach.

It winds past rare coastal dune lakes, stellar state parks, massive dunes, and through several charming SoWal beach towns. Biking in SoWal is a perfect family activity, an ideal way to get some exercise, and a whole lot of fun.
