As the old one-story dune cottages of yesteryear disappear, a few are still available to lucky visitors to South Walton. Beach Baby is one of the few that remain on the beach in Seagrove, and holds all the old charm and memories of the SoWal past.

There is a new town center rising on the eastern end of South Walton. Watersound Origins began 15 years ago a bit off the beaten path as a St. Joe subdivision with 10-hole golf course, community pool and clubhouse, nature trails and access to Lake Powell, bordering Camp Helen State Park.

South Walton County in the Florida panhandle is home to rare coastal dune lakes that kiss the Gulf of Mexico. Western Lake meets the Gulf at Grayton Beach State Park. The beloved stand of pines between the lake and the Gulf is one of South Walton's most photographed and painted scenes.
