Whiskey Bravo Fundraiser Benefits Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center

January 31, 2016 by SoWal Staff

Skip and Victoria Moore, owners of 723 Whiskey Bravo, are holding a special fundraiser to benefit a very worthy cause, the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center’s (ECCAC) new Pierce Family Children’s Center.

The restaurant will be placing stuffed animal “Riley Therapy Dogs” on each table at Whiskey Bravo, and a $20 donation gets you one. So not only can you get a wonderful meal, you can do your part to support underserved children in our community. It takes a village.

Proceeds will directly benefit the new Walton County center. The Pierce Family Children's Center, slated to open in April in Defuniak Springs, will serve abused children and their families in a neutral, child friendly environment.

The facility will staff 45 offices in four wings to include a Welcome Wing, Intervention Wing, Justice Wing and Healing Wing. Companies and individuals can contribute to the Center by sponsoring various rooms. Each sponsor will be recognized with a plaque affixed in a prominent position outside the sponsored room.

The Riley stuffed animal dog sales will be on-going at 723 Whiskey Bravo, located on Scenic Highway 30-A in Seagrove Beach.

The real Riley, a 10-year old Maltese dog, is a registered AKC Therapy Dog who is on the “staff” of ECCAC. He earned his American Kennel Club credentials by completing over 400 therapy visits with the kids at the Center dealing with abusive situations.

Riley helps the kids learn self-confidence, and the kids teach him tricks. In group therapy sessions, he often instinctively sits in front of the child who feels the worst. In fact, according the therapists, the kids will tell Riley things they won’t tell them. The kids will say, “I’ll tell Riley, you can listen if you want.”

Riley, the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center’s real AKC registered Therapy Dog, will sit on tables in a stuffed animal version at 723 Whiskey Bravo restaurant on Highway 30-A in Seagrove Beach. A donation of $20 takes a Riley dog home and benefits the new Walton County Pierce Family Children’s Center scheduled to open in April.

“We so appreciate the generous support of the Moore’s and 723 Whiskey Bravo. The Moore’s also donated funds to sponsor the office manager’s room at our new Walton County Center,” said ECCAC CEO Julie Hurst. “The stuffed animal look-alike Riley dogs are adorable and will generate additional funds to help our kids.”

The Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (ECCAC) provides services to help identify, treat and support children in abusive situations. The organization helps prevent child abuse through education, protects child victims from future abuse, and provides resources to restore the lives of the child and the child’s family.

The Center is a non-profit organization located in Niceville, Fla. It serves Okaloosa and Walton counties and houses representatives from the Florida Department of Children and Families, Child Protection Team, State Attorney’s Office, local law enforcement, and licensed mental health counselors.
