Jim Del Mauro has always been a fighter – rallying people over the years to accomplish great things against the odds. In 1999, a Parkinson’s diagnosis presented Jim with the biggest fight of his life. This wasn’t his first experience with Parkinson’s. Jim had watched it rob his father’s vitality as a virtuoso jazz musician and family man. He knew what he was up against.
It was in that moment of resolve when Jim made a promise to himself and to his family: he’d face the disease every day with a positive attitude. He’d raise money for research and be an advocate for those afflicted. Jim’s life would be an example of living life with Parkinson’s – no matter what.
Jim has been an avid runner throughout his life. He’s relied on exercise to combat the progression of his symptoms. Since diagnosed he’s run, biked, climbed mountains – even taken on the rapids of the Rio Grande Gorge.
In 2004, The Rosemary Beach community joined Jim’s fund raising efforts by creating an annual 5k race. To date, The Jim Del Mauro Rosemary Run has raised over $100,000 for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.

Rosemary Beach, Florida is a unique and picturesque beach town that brings an island charm and style to the eastern end of South Walton. One of a handful of New Urban towns on Scenic 30A, it’s a place that’s meant to be experienced on foot or by bike. Its narrow streets and paths are begging to be explored.
Established in 1995, it’s name comes from the local Rosemary plants which grow among the sand dunes and along the trails in SoWal. Like the plant, Rosemary Beach has stand-out beauty, yet fits perfectly into the diverse South Walton community.
