March 3, 2016 by SoWal Staff
A popular event for foodies this year is coming to SoWal for the first time ever. We are thrilled to welcome the Food Film Festival to South Walton, Florida this spring! Debuting April 8-10, the event is known for being the only film festival in the world where visitors can eat the food they see on the screen while sitting in their theater chairs.
The three-day festival includes food films from award-winning artists, unique meals prepared by some of the South’s best chefs, and various events celebrating the food, art, and culture of South Walton. Two area chefs are included - Phil McDonald of Bud & Alley's Pizza Bar, and Kevin Korman of Caliza Restaurant.
For the festival’s entry to Florida, The Local Palate magazine is bringing favorite Southern personalities to South Walton for a weekend filled with award-winning films, fine food from celebrity chefs, and customized cocktails. Early bird tickets are now available.
The first night of the Food Film Festival in South Walton features a VIP and welcome party with “A Taste of What’s to Come.” Saturday’s events include “A Southern Culinary + Spirits Experience” plus exclusive screenings of a dozen short films accompanied by dishes and cocktails based on the films. The weekend wraps up with “An American Institution: A Sunday Brunch” where guests are served quintessential American brunch items.
