Sunday Fall Wine Walkabout & Charity Auction at Sandestin Hilton Nov 8

November 3, 2015 by SoWal Staff

As expected, tickets have completely sold out for Seeing Red Wine Festival's Grand Tasting commemorating its 25th Anniversary. But never fear, tix are still available for the Sunday Fall Walkabout & Charity Wine Auction held at Hilton Sandestin on Nov. 8 from 2-5 p.m. All proceeds from the Seeing Red Wine Festival weekend benefit the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF), who recently donated a record-breaking $2.3 million to 14 Northwest Florida children’s charities.

"We're thrilled to be the charity partner for the Seeing Red Wine Festival and are excited about this commemorative year. We've added new elements such as the VIP lounge and are bringing back member favorites, such as the Sunday Fall Wine Walkabout," said DCWAF Executive Director John Russell.

Held on the deck of the Hilton Sandestin, overlooking the white sand beaches and turquoise waters of South Walton, the Fall Wine Walkabout will feature a selection of more than 75 different wines and small bites from some of the most popular local restaurants, including Jackacudas, Bijoux, Wild Olives, and Ruth's Chris, among others. The event will be complemented by live music performed by Continuum Sound and a Reyka Bloody Mary bar along with refreshing Bellinis and mimosas.

In addition, the Fall Walkabout & Charity Wine Auction will include a silent and live auction, featuring wine trips, staycations, and unique wine selections, including large formats, rare selections, and signed items. Lots range from a 1.5L 2012 Anderson Valley Estate Grown Duckhorn wine signed by Goldeneye Winemaker Michael Fay to a two-night stay at Martinelli Winery in the Russian River Valley to six bottles of 2010 Vintage of Brunellos Italian wine.

Tickets for the Sunday Fall Wine Walkabout & Charity Auction held on Nov. 8 are $60/person.

Also, a limited number of tickets are still available for the Seeing Red Wine Festival Al Fresco Reserve Tasting held Friday, Nov. 6 from 6-8 p.m. on the Lyceum Lawn in Seaside.

The Al Fresco Reserve Tasting is an elegant evening showcasing an incredible selection of library wines, featuring vintages that have been cellared to be uncorked at just the right time. Celebrated local chef, Jim Shirley, will prepare a delicious array of hors d’oeuvres that pair perfectly with the featured wines. The evening is complemented by live jazz music under a clear-topped tent and twinkling lights on Seaside’s Lyceum Lawn. Admission is $200 and a limited number of reservations are available.

Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation’s mission is to connect wine enthusiasts to raise money to benefit children in need in Northwest Florida. Founded in 2005, Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation has donated more than $10 million to Northwest Florida charities through hosting world class wine and culinary events. These funds have impacted the lives of more than 50,000 youth, including those afflicted by health issues and abuse. DCWAF is recognized as one of the nation’s ‘Top 10 Charity Wine Auction in the U.S.’ by Wine Spectator magazine. To learn more or purchase tickets, please visit www.seeingredwinefestival.com.
