Sandestin Triathlon Needs Volunteers Aug 22

The 29th Annual Sandestin Triathlon will be held August 22 at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Join over 800 athletes to compete in a half-mile Gulf of Mexico swim, a 20-mile bike ride along Scenic Highway 30-A, and a four-mile run through Sandestin’s beach and bayside community.

The Sandestin Triathlon is one of the largest athletic events held in Northwest Florida. Organizers are encouraging the general public to come out and get involved in the event by volunteering during Sandestin Triathlon weekend. Volunteers are needed to assist on Friday and Saturday. In return, all volunteers will receive a commemorative race t-shirt and access to the official hospitality tent.

"Volunteering for the Sandestin Triathlon is a great way to get close to the event and see some amazing athletes and teams compete in one of our favorite events of the year at Sandestin," said Phil Werz, director of marketing and public relations at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. "We have created a very efficient way for people to sign up, volunteer and know that they contributed to the success of an event that draws athletes to South Walton from throughout the Southeast."

Volunteers are needed for a variety of duties on Friday, August 21 and Saturday August 22 (main event).

Volunteers can sign up for a specific day, or both days, and choose from a number of duties including assembling race packets, answering questions from athletes and relay teams, body marking, assisting intransition areas, handing out water and energy drinks to competitors, orother responsibilities with race operations.
