Record Store Day at Central Square Records April 20

Record Store Day is a national event that is meant to celebrate all types of music, and your local record store, if you're lucky enough to have one. SoWal is extra lucky to have Central Square Records in Seaside as the hub of recorded and live music, and the annual event seems made for them. Each year they get more people involved and rock a little harder.

From Central Square Records: Hey friends, as many of you know, Record Store Day is on our heels, and Central Square Records will be celebrating our 5th year participating in this amazing day on Saturday, April 20th! Of course, we will have a majority of the exclusive, limited items that are offered on RSD. We are starting to get in our shipments, and things are looking good!

We will also have a live performance by Chris Alvarado, releasing his new album Home, at 6pm in the back room.

For those who have joined us before, you know we have a lot of giveaways (record totes, label samplers, t-shirts) in addition to the mind-boggling array of Record Store Day releases. We will also hold a drawing for a test pressing of J.J. Grey’s new album The River, which we will give away at the end of the day. This should be our best year yet, and we will have everything at the ready at 8am on Saturday, April 20th! See you here!

From Chris Alvarado: Chris Alvarado is releasing his new album, Home, on vinyl at two special events. The first event will be held at Central Square Records on April 20 to celebrate Record Store Day. Chris will be performing at 6 p.m. with Kelsey Anna.

The second release party is at The Williams Backyard Boogie on May 2 at 6:30 p.m. Other local favorites Kelsey Anna, Scott Rockwood and more will also be performing. Ticket prices are $20 and include a copy of the album on CD. Food plates will also be available for $10 from Grayt Catering. Tickets can be purchased at any Forrest Williams show, at Central Square Records, or by phone (850) 502-6448.

Home, is Chris' second album. Releasing an album on vinyl has always been a dream for Chris and he was able to achieve it with the help of his fans through a project on Kickstarter.com. His first album, Chris Alvarado, was released in 2012 and can be found on ITunes, Pandora Radio, and other online retailers.

In 2012, the National Recording Academy awarded Chris first place at the Florida GRAMMY showcase. Chris Alvarado plays locally up to nine times a week and recently won the  Beachcomber's Best Solo Artist award.
