Fore Her Tournament at Santa Rosa Golf Club Sep 30

September 30, 2016 by Audrey Johnson

Plans are in full swing for the 4th Annual Fore Her Golf Outing. The outing hosted by Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club gets off to a shotgun start at 9 am on September 30, and it’s slated to be the biggest one yet. Bigger, even, than the bras strapped to the front of the golf carts, all of which founder Amy Walsh makes by hand.

Besides being the only tournament where the golf carts wear bras, the Fore Her Golf Outing features a Dress Like a Girl hole where golfers drape themselves in boas and boulder holders. Golfers will also enjoy hole in one prizes, food and drink samples on the course, breakfast before tee off, lunch after the outing, a silent auction, and the helicopter golf ball drop.

The 2nd Annual Helicopter Golf Ball Drop will be held immediately after the last golfer has completed their round. Golf balls are now available for a donation of $20 for one golf ball or $50 for three golf balls. After the dust settles, the owner of the ball in the hole wins $1,000 cash. The second and third closest balls to the hole win $250 each. You need not be present to win, but you wouldn’t want to miss it! Fore Her does a wonderful job of raising awareness for women’s health, while celebrating what it means to be a survivor. That’s why the Fore Her Golf Outing is the most fun you’ll ever have on the golf course, all while raising money for breast cancer patients in financial need.

Whether they’re dropping off baskets of comfort items at local oncology centers, purchasing new tires so patients can travel safely to treatment, or Christmas gifts for families who have no income because their mom is too sick to work, one thing’s for sure. Fore Her is making a difference in the lives of women who need it most. One anonymous recipient wrote to express her gratitude.

“Presently, I am in daily radiation treatments for breast cancer, with two tumors removed at Thanksgiving. I am writing to thank you for the bag full of treats left at 21st Century Oncology. Not only did the bag meet an immediate need of tissues and waters for me, it provided an avenue for discussion with my children. After a day of radiation, work and school, my kids plundered through the bag to find their favorite mints, pink ribbon lollis, and bubbles! Hard for me to process a cancer diagnosis, but my fears have been tremendous for my kids. I thank you for your thoughtfulness for someone like me. Please know your generosity touches and comforts so many more that you even realize. Your bag lead to a discussion of all things pink, respect for women, graciousness for those who are tired and in need, and comfort discussing a hard topic. Thank you.”

SoWal.com is a proud sponsor of the Fore Her Golf Outing. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month every October, SoWal.com distributes pink stickers to local restaurants and businesses with info about Fore Her on the back. Be on the lookout and grab your pink stickers when you’re out and about in South Walton this fall! Sponsorship opportunities for the golf outing are still available, ranging in price from $3,000 for an event sponsor to $100 for a tee sponsorship.
