The National Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Walton County. The Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA) is calling all kids to flitter to Watersound Origins to celebrate 26 years of the Flutterby Arts Festival.  This year’s event takes place Sunday, October 20, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on the green located directly behind Two Birds Coffee + Café.

Produced by the CAA, The Flutterby Festival is a two-day event filled with arts, nature, science and fun in celebration of the migration of the Monarch butterfly through South Walton. The festival will feature live entertainment for the entire family, including music, theatre, and dance. Art activities like the butterfly wing creation station, craft-making, pottery hand-building, and face-painting will be available all weekend. Kids can also enjoy the “Clay 30A” butterfly learning center, carnival games, bounce houses and a butterfly parade at the end of each day.

Flutterby entertainment will be provided by Mari Gleason, 30A Dancewave, the South Walton High School Dance Team, Ohana Records, and more! Professional artists will be exhibiting and selling their work throughout the weekend, and official Flutterby merchandise featuring artwork by Lillian Li, a 4th grader at Freeport Elementary School, will be available for purchase.

The Flutterby Festival is presented by Watersound Origins with additional sponsorship support from Amici 30A, Amigos 30A, Clay 30A, and the Florida Department of State Division of Cultural Affairs. Admission to the festival is free and open to the public. Some activities within the festival require tickets, which can be purchased on-site. Volunteers are needed to help create all the fun. Please email beck@culturalartsalliance.com to be a part of the team. Watersound Origins is located at 560 Pathways Drive, Watersound, FL 32461. Parking will be available on-site.

CULTURAL ARTS ALLIANCE OF WALTON COUNTY (CAA)

Supporting the arts in Walton County’s schools is at the core of Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County's mission. This children's arts event showcases the talent of our local students at the Flutterby Festival, celebrates their artistic expression and creativity, and helps raise funds that will go back into their classrooms through educational grants.

Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA) headquarters is the Bayou Arts Center where over 200 art classes are offered every year to adults and children. The CAA produces the 30A Songwriters Festival, Valentine Tour of Homes, ArtsQuest, Under the Sea fundraiser for the Underwater Museum of Art, and the Flutterby Festival. Tens of thousands of dollars are awarded annually to teachers, students, artists and arts organizations through the CAA’s Art For All Program, which is funded through grants and net proceeds from these events.

The Foster Gallery is the CAA’s artist collective retail space located at Grand Boulevard. The CAA and South Walton Artificial Reef Association partnered to launch the nation’s first Underwater Museum of Art (UMA Florida) with the goal of deploying curated sculptures as artificial reefs to provide a source of biological replenishment and protective marine habitat, now located offshore in Grayton Beach, Florida.

As the creative core of Walton County, the CAA offers support, connection, and access opportunities for all forms of art, every variety of maker, all levels or learners, and especially; art lovers. Through sponsorships, performance, and educational programs, the organization directly connect the people of Walton County with the broader view, the critical exploration, and the answers only the Arts have the power to provide.
