Dread Clampitt Kicks off Scallop Festival in Port St Joe Sep 12

Make plans to attend Florida Scallop & Music Festival Sep. 12-13, 2014 along beautiful St. Joseph Bay in Port St. Joe, Florida. It's a short day trip from South Walton along the coast to Port St. Joe on The Forgotten Coast. The annual Scallop Festival draws big crowds eager to celebrate this Gulf County delicacy. Sample scallops cooked in many tasty ways, enjoy a variety of great southern foods, a lot of live music, arts and crafts, a car show, and a kid’s zone all overlooking beautiful St. Joseph Bay.

Art & craft vendors, educational exhibits, kid zone and many great food vendors featuring scallops and other local foods will be offered throughout George Core Park around the pond and under the shade. Friday night will be highlighted with the unique musical soundings of Dread Clampitt. Saturday night features a compact duo of Tobacco Road followed by Joe Diffie taking the stage at 9:00 pm. This is sure to be an event that music lovers won't want to miss.

Friday, September 12

Festival gates open at 5:00 p.m. where vendors will showcase their goods. Then, Dread Clampitt will kick off music for the weekend at 7:00 pm on the stage overlooking St. Joe Bay.

Saturday, September 13

Gates open at 11am. Come and stroll along the many vendors and listen to great music all day long. Don't miss Tobacco Road at 7:00 pm followed by Joe Diffie at 9:00 pm.

VIP Tent- Come and enjoy the perks of a being a VIP. For $50 you can purchase a ticket for the VIP tent beginning at 6:00 on Saturday Night. This includes a catered buffet dinner and full bar. These tickets are limited, so be sure to get yours early.

Admission for children ages 6 and younger is free and also for military personnel with valid I.D. General admission to the festival is $5.00 per person on Friday, and $5.00 per person on Saturday.

About the music

South Walton's favorite Dread Clampitt cooks up one of a kind homemade music. It's a tasty sonic gumbo of influences ranging from bluegrass, rock & roll, blues, jazz and Louisiana Bayou funk complete with three part harmonies and a pinch of southern humor thrown in for good measure. The band is best-known for playing at the Red Bar in Grayton Beach, FL - they're still rocking the house every weekend. When Dread Clampitt is rocking, they draw all kinds of people as the night goes on, rednecks and hippies are both right at home. Elbow-to-elbow feet moving and heads bobbing, politicians, boat captains, beach bums, celebrities and oystermen too. You can be yourself at a Dread show, it doesn't matter what you do or who you are.

Tobacco Road CMT touring artist Eric Durrance formed the Tobacco Rd Band in 2010. The Tallahassee 4 piece band came out of the gate running and has accomplished in less than a year what some bands spend a lifetime trying to do. Their fan base keeps growing everyday as people from all over the world discover their music. Joe Diffie: With the release of Jason Aldean's hit "1994" earlier this year that name-checked many of Joe Diffie's twelve Number One hits, the legendary singer found himself squarely back in the hearts and minds of country fans.  With chart-toppers like "Pickup Man," "Third Rock From the Sun," and "John Deere Green," and 13 albums and over 20 Top 10 singles to his credit, Joe has little to prove at this point in his career, yet he still has a fire in his belly to make good country music. A renowned songwriter in his own right who recently turned his focus back to writing after years on the road, Joe has hits for artists like Tim McGraw, Conway Twitty, and Jo Dee Messina to his credit, and has cuts on upcoming projects for "X Factor" winner Tate Stevens, Dylan Scott, and Tyler Farr among others. He is also hard at work on an album of brand new material, due out later this year on Bigger Picture Records.
