Digital Graffiti at Alys Beach Expands to Two Nights June 8th & 9th, 2012

May 28, 2012 by SoWal Staff

You have to see it to believe it. That means you need to visit Alys Beach on June 8th and 9th, 2012 for a feast for your senses in a beautiful setting. Digital Graffiti at Alys Beach is one of our favorite events, and If you haven't been to this SoWal.com-sponsored event you've got to go. It's very unique. It's the world's first projection art festival, with artists from all over the globe projecting their original works onto the town's white walls. Every year there are new surprises.

Adult tickets are $30 for Friday night and $50 for Saturday night (includes party at Caliza Pool). Children’s tickets (12 and under) may be purchased for $10 for each night.

The festival has expanded this year over two nights with a “GalleryStroll” on Friday night where artists are available to discuss their work. Also new this year are various art workshops, hosted by Alys Beach in conjunction with the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County. On Saturday, end the night with a poolside party at Caliza Pool.

Prior to the event, be sure to check out VIEMagazine’s “MeetMe at The Red Carpet” at Fonville Press from 6 p.m. to 8:30 pm. Wine, beer, champagne and tapas will be available for purchase.

“Digital Graffiti, over a short period of time, has become irrevocably linked to Alys Beach,” says Town Architect MarieanneKhoury-Vogt. “Watching our beautiful, stark, white-washed walls and roofs become completely transformed by the colorful and evocative swirling pieces of digital art is truly an inspiring experience. The projected vivid images that mold and melt against the backdrop of our sculptural architecture are fascinating to observe. One can meander through the paths and parks of our town and contemplate all of the different pieces of digital graffiti, at times set to music, and at times powerfully silent.”
