Artist Reception & Trunk Show at Fusion Art Glass in Seaside Oct. 18-20

October 7, 2013 by SoWal Staff

Fusion Art Glass in Seaside will host its Annual Trunk Show at the Seaside gallery on October 18-20. The event begins with an artist reception on Friday from 4-6 p.m. welcoming award winning glass artist Cal Breed of Orbix Hot Glass in Fort Payne, Alabama.  Breed was recently nominated for Martha Stewart's Made in America Award. Additionally, his work has been featured as one of Oprah's Favorite Things and pieces from Orbix Hot Glass can be seen in Food and Wine Magazine, Southern Living, and InStyle. Fusion Art Glass invites locals and visitors to meet Cal, ask questions about the glass blowing process, and enjoy wine with light hor d'eouvres.

Russ Gilbert, Fusion Art Glass owner and glass artist, refers to Cal Breed as "one of the best glassblowers working in America". Cal is known for his beautifully mastered incalmo technique. The incalmo technique of making glass began in the sixteenth century when Italian glass makers wanted to achieve the look of two or three different colored sections of glass to make it appear as if it was one piece of glass. Venice was the center for this method of glass making and soon spread across Europe and eventually America, where highly skilled glass makers make this beautiful glassware.

Fusion Art Glass will also feature extensive jewelry collections throughout the weekend event from renowned jewelers Dana David and Aaron Henry.

Dana David jewelry has been featured in InStyle, Lucky, Marie Claire Elle Magazine, and Vanity Fair amongst others. The Dana David Collection re-defines modern luxury with jewelry for the way we live today. Inspired by graphics and architecture, the bold, sculptural design is married with classic elegance and attention to detail.

Aaron Henry is a third generation jeweler, whose accolades include Spectrum, Niche, Signity and Diamonds Today awards. Several Aaron Henry pieces have also been used in the marketing efforts of the World Gold Council, the GIA, De Beers and the California Jewelers Association. His jewelry has appeared in industry and consumer magazines including Vanity Fair, Town & Country, Millionaire and In Style.
