At the new Seaside Academic Village and Assmebly Hall at the Seaside Lyceum - visiting artists display for sale the paintings they spent the week creating. The Seaside Institute offers homeowners and visitors of Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach and other beach neighbors a unique arts event that celebrates the beauty of our area through plein air painting.
Plein air painting captures the atmosphere of the moment. The majority of the painting must be done on location and is a true test of an artist's skill. It requires utmost confidence in every brush stroke and placement of color in a small window of time. A sunset may last a few moments - and that’s all the time the artist has to capture the entire scene.
