Thanks for writing. This is a topic i frequently ponder. I love talking to people, especially elderly. I remember many Sundays gathered at my grandmother's and all of the adults would tell funny stories of their youth. As a kid, I was so fascinated that the grown ups around me were just as mischievous and foolish as i was being at the time. The young people now are so obsessed with electronics, they don't know how to talk to people face to face and they're forgetting how to spell too. The gap between parents and children may seem like it's gotten smaller due to all the new ways to 'communicate', but i feel it's also gotten larger in that they aren't talking anymore and bonding by their sharing experiences.

I look forward to reading more from you.

So true. I remember my Dad and his brothers sharing those types of stories. The written word doesn't always do justice to good conversation.

Thanks again for the kind comments.

New Blog Post :What happened to Good Old Fashion Conversation

Would love to read or hear your thoughts.

excellent!!
I loved the part about belly laughs! there's nothing better to share with friends, associates, family.
we have had belly laughs on SoWal.com over the years (believe me, we have!) - posters say they are spewing coffee or whatever, or literally laughing out loud while family members or co-workers stare at them (as they laugh at a computer screen)... but still.. there is nothing like real time, face to face sharing of laughter.

Thanks so much. Thought I was the only one thinking about this stuff. Glad to know that I'm not alone.

its funny how one-on-one email and telephone communications are nearly a thing of the past except for occasional business or other rare instances.

I still like email. But, I do enjoy the convenience of texting messages - its quick and doesn't require actual phone / talk time. I have to text my best friend to tell her to answer the damn phone when I really want to talk. she's so used to not taking calls.

LOL. My wife is the same way with the texts...have to text her to answer the phone regularly.;-) As a matter of fact, she was the inspiration for the article..
