Honorees​

For each $100 donation, gentlemen get a chance to be selected Honorary George Walton, Jr.
For each $100 donation, ladies get a chance to be selected Honorary Madame Octavia Walton Le Vert.
Honor shall run from Dec. 29 to Dec. 29 of each year.
Drawing will take place after sunset toast each December 29th. Walton County, Florida’s founding date, December 29, 1824. Donation and Application Form to be Completed. Must be present.

This year’s donations will go to the Walton County Heritage Museum. Checks should be made out to this non-profit organization, an affiliate of the Walton County Heritage Association, 501C3. Other donations to the Walton County Heritage Museum will also be accepted during event.

The Walton County 200 Countdown Celebration is an Original Event Founded by Brenda Rees in 2004. Wine Suggestions?

Any wine suggestions? Last year we put aside a Quivira Zinfandel from Dry Creek Valley to be opened in 2024. In 2007, a 2003 Chateau La Lagune Haut-Medoc was selected. Hopefully, selections will be tasty when those around in 2024 get to work their way through the 20 years of Countdown to Walton County being 200.

Stop by for the toast at 4:41 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 and get your name on the list for the big Walton County 200th sampling in 2024.

Our virtual friends not able to be in SoWal this year can still toast with us. But, make plans to be here next year.

Walton County 200 Countdown Celebration Day -- December 29

Congratulations! We made it another year!! Here's to celebrating Walton County, Florida's founding on December 29, 1824. If you can't join us tonight at sunset in SoWal for a toast, here is the poem Edgar Allan Poe wrote for Octavia, daughter of Walton County's namesake, George Walton, Jr. Poe wrote it in 1827 when he met Octavia in Baltimore. It was published in "Tamerlane" and handwritten in Octavia's famous scrapbook.
