Please join the South Walton community for the Ocean Conservany's 2011 International Coastal Cleanup Day September 17 from 8 - 10am.
It’s easy to get involved. There is no age limit or special skill required, and the time spent volunteering is time you already spend at the beach! Volunteers will be stationed at the following beach access locations:
Van Ness Butler, Jr. Access
Ed Walline Access
Dune Allen Access
Miramar Beach Access
Blue Mountain Access
Inlet Beach Access
In partnership with organizations and individuals across the globe, Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup engages people to remove trash and debris from the world's beaches and waterways, identify the sources of debris, and change the behaviors that cause ocean trash in the first place.
For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Rae Ellis at South Walton TDC 850-267-4578 .
Over the past 25 years, Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup has become the world’s largest volunteer effort for ocean health. Nearly nine million volunteers from 152 countries and locations have cleaned 145 million pounds of trash from the shores of lakes, streams, rivers, and the ocean on just one day each year.
They have recorded every item found, giving us a clear picture of the manufactured items impacting the health of humans, wildlife, and economies. As our 2011 report demonstrates, the body of data from the International Coastal Cleanup has inspired action to rid the ocean of harmful trash.
