I had to go through the painstaking process of removing Vista and installing XP. Vista crashed my brand new laptop three times in 58 days.

I hope you get this worked out! Vista is definitely a pain.........

Robert, thanks. I went and tried to run that script that that guy laid out, it just wouldn't work, command code/syntax was wrong.

AM, i may call him. just figure there's gotta be a way to do something as 'simple' as uninstall without having to call a specialist.

next call, microsoft:bang:

I guess you can pray that Windows 7, coming out in Oct 2009, will be much better than Vista. I've never heard one good thing about Vista, and I'm not sure why MS hasn't allowed free XP downloads to any Vista owner.

I wish I had an answer for you other than praying.

When I had to change mine back to XP, there was one driver we couldn't locate. Had to get Canadian version.......very laborious and frustrating, indeed. ARGH! MS wouldn't release it and neither would mfg of my laptop. Double ARGH!

I don't think I'll trust Windows 7. My next computer will most likely be a Mac to avoid these issues.

I'm not suggesting that anyone trust Windows 7 -- just saying that we should all pray that it is better than Vista.

Trying to avoid monopoly accusations by the Gov'ts, MS's release of Windows 7 in Germany will reportedly be without IE. Opera (not Oprah), another browser, says that isn't good enough, and they want the Windows 7 release to include all the major players of web browsers so that people can choose which browser to use. Doubt that will happen. I say let them keep IE installed, as long as we have other easy options, such as installing FireFox. That will keep the hackers focusing on the big boys, keeping the other browsers a little more free of hacks.

Windows 7 is more marketing than anything else. More like Vista SP2. Going to a little bit of stuff moved around, but I have been running the release candidate since it came out and other than performance, I have had some of the same issues I had with Vista. But if you are going to stay in a PC world and do not want to do linux, then you learn to deal.

Here is a link to a site you will not need when you get your mac.
