Many thanks to Jon Kazek and the team at Dixon Kazek Construction for the amazing work they are doing with the buildout of the CVHN Dental Clinic. It is our target to be moved in and open for operation this Spring but there is still much to be done. We continue to need your support to make this a sustainable reality. We also have a wish list of items needed including a 7' x 30" or smaller refrigerator, small microwave, small table and chairs for four and front office furniture.
With the opening of the clinic nearing, CVHN is excited to announce the addition of Dr. Stephanie Cook, DMD, to the team. Dr. Cook is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Dentistry and has four years of dental practice experience, primarily treating indigent children. She has taken two mission trips to Guaimaca, Honduras where she treated impoverished Hondurans in the mountain villages, orphanages and hospital of Guaimaca performing various dental and oral surgical procedures. "I am excited about joining the CVHN team and helping expand the mission to reach more children in need of excellent dental care." Dr. Cook is married to Dr. Cassidy Cook of Cook Family Dentistry and they reside in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.
The opening of the CVHN Dental Clinic will compliment the Mobile Dental Bus, "Just for Grins", by allowing more children to receive the restorative care they require. Executive Director, Zach Billingsley says, "The severity of cases we have seen on our mobile clinic over the past few years has been overwhelming and sad to witness. More than 65% of the children we examine on the bus have decay requiring prompt restorative dental care. The new stand alone clinic will focus on these severe cases, allowing our mobile clinic to focus on preventative treatments; visiting more grades and more schools in the future. Our passion is to provide hope where there is pain and the creation of this clinic will allow us to make a difference on an even larger scale.
