This month’s report shares Tourist Development Tax revenues from September 2025, concluding Fiscal Year 2025 with total TDT collection of $60,330,934.94. Of that total, South Walton represented $59,992,279.96, down 0.12% — or $29,050.03 — from FY24. North Walton collections totaled $338,654.98, down 10.30% — or $25,926. 62 — from FY24.

In September, Tourist Development Tax collection for South Walton was 5.19% lower than the prior year period, with total TDT collections of $3,645,058.37.

The Tourist Development Tax, or bed tax, is a 5% tax collected on hotels, condos and other short-term rentals south of Choctawhatchee Bay. It is the best way to gauge visitation and demand trends in South Walton. The revenue supports tourism marketing and beach operations efforts, including cleaning and maintaining beaches, employing lifeguards, destination improvements and preservation initiatives.

Tourist Development Tax collection on short-term rental accommodations north of the Choctawhatchee Bay totaled $23,903.21 for September 2025, representing a 10.88% decrease, or $1,945.04, compared with the previous year. The TDT, or bed tax, for the reporting period is a 3% tax collected on hotels, condos and other short-term rentals north of the Choctawhatchee Bay. It is the best way to gauge visitation and demand trends.

As of Nov. 10, the number of active rental units in the South Walton Taxing District was 18,710 and the North Walton Taxing District was 883 for a total of 19,593.
