All,
I've been in the area about a year now (permanent resident)--still getting used to local practices and informal customs. In that time, I've used the services of electricians, plumbers, HVAC workers, furniture movers, tree cutters, etc. All have done totally satisfactory work at their trade. All of these have been routine (not "on-call" or emergency) call outs.
Help me. Is there a common practice of tipping such tradespeople for doing an adequate job? (I'm not talking about restaurant wait staff, barbers, etc.) Do such workers (electricians, plumbers, tree cutters, etc) "expect" it? If so, what would be a rule-of-thumb guideline for any such tipping?
Were I came from, such tips were not customary. Advice?
