The Torchlight Film Series will continue this Monday, August 9 at the Watercolor Boathouse at 7:30pm with a reception and special screening of The Myth of the American Sleepover.
This award-winning independent film had its international premiere recently at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received critical acclaim.... 30-A attendees will get a special chance to view The Myth of the American Sleepover prior to the film?s national theatrical release.
The Myth of the American Sleepover tells the story of four young people looking for love and adventure on the last weekend of summer in suburban Detroit. The Hollywood Reporter calls it ?a beautifully rendered tale of teen angst,? with ?sensual visuals that recapture summertime adolescence in all its vivacity.?
Writer-director David Robert Mitchell will be flying from Los Angeles with other members of the production to join the pre-screening reception and a discussion following the film. The Myth of the American Sleepover is Mr. Mitchell?s feature film debut that received international recognition this year when it became the first U.S. feature film since 2005 to be invited by critics from around the world to screen at the Cannes Critics? Week.
