As many of you know, The Hangout Beach, Music & Arts Festival is scheduled for May 14-16 in Gulf Shores, Alabama. This festival is a three-day event that will feature over 60 performers right on the beach and on Friday the festival announced that it would be giving 100% of the profits to coastal cleanup and recovery.

In light of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill affecting the Gulf Coast, the festival will be donating the profits to regional charity efforts. Previously announced national headliners Zac Brown Band, Trey Anastasio, John Legend, The Roots and more will rally behind this needed call for environmental preservation, corporate responsibility and the preservation of our coastal communities? livelihoods.

We understand that the beautiful beaches of Walton county have been untouched, as have those in Gulf Shores; however, our entire coastline is threatened. There will be a very slow degradation of our eco system and it is our responsibility to inform the public of how magnificent our beaches are and how our local businesses need support.

We would greatly appreciate any assistance that everyone in and around Walton County, especially through SoWal.com, could provide the festival for support. Obviously, the event does not occur in Walton county; however, the benefit for our coastal region is widespread. This is now a "concert for the coast" and we encourage our neighbors to the east to assist us in spreading the word.

Thank you in advance for your time! Remember visit us online or via our Facebook page for more details. We hope to see you in Gulf Shores next weekend!

I spent the day spreading the word and it has been met with open arms from Destin to Panama City! I hope everyone in the know does the same. A great festival, for a great cause in this time of disaster!

Dylan...thanks so much for your help in spreading the word about the festival and our new focus...coastal cleanup and recovery!

Kurt...a big thanks to you and SoWal.com for allowing us to use this board as a promotional tool to inform the general public about the great direction this event has chosen to take.

We hope to see a great representation of SoWal'ers in Gulf Shores next weekend!
