A popular event for foodies this year is coming to SoWal for the first time ever. We are thrilled to welcome the Food Film Festival to South Walton, Florida this spring! Debuting April 8-10, the event is known for being the only film festival in the world where visitors can eat the food they see on the screen while sitting in their theater chairs.

The three-day festival includes food films from award-winning artists, unique meals prepared by some of the South’s best chefs, and various events celebrating the food, art, and culture of South Walton. Two area chefs are included - Phil McDonald of Bud & Alley's Pizza Bar, and Kevin Korman of Caliza Restaurant.

For the festival’s entry to Florida, The Local Palate magazine is bringing favorite Southern personalities to South Walton for a weekend filled with award-winning films, fine food from celebrity chefs, and customized cocktails.Early bird tickets are now available.

The first night of the Food Film Festival in South Walton features a VIP and welcome party with “A Taste of What’s to Come.” Saturday’s events include “A Southern Culinary + Spirits Experience” plus exclusive screenings of a dozen short films accompanied by dishes and cocktails based on the films. The weekend wraps up with “An American Institution: A Sunday Brunch” where guests are served quintessential American brunch items.

A Taste of What's to Come
Caliza Restaurant at Alys Beach | 6:30-10:30pm
Kick off the weekend with artful films and food. Then rub elbows with the celebrity chefs and filmmakers who made it all possible. Commentary by festival director George Motz.

Saturday, April 9
Roadtrip, A Southern Culinary + Spirits Experience
The Hub at WaterSound Beach | 11am til 2pm
Experience the South in a matter of minutes from BBQ and biscuits to fried green tomatoes and banana pudding. Sip craft beers and local spirits as you embark on your culinary expedition. Family friendly event does not include films.

Saturday, April 9
By Land or By Sea | Feature Film Night
The Hub at WaterSound Beach | 6:30pm til...
Sit back, relax, and enjoy an evening under the stars while viewing award-winning food documentaries and tasting what you see on the screen. These films take viewers on a journey through the culinary world. Feature film event. Stick around for the After Party.

Sunday, April 10
An American Institution—It's Grits!
Bud and Alley's at Seaside | 11am til 3pm
The festival will conclude with Sunday brunch celebrating the film It's Grits! as our best chefs prepare a one-of-a-kind southern brunch for you to savor as you enjoy the beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico.
