“Music in Pictures” is an educational art project and juried art competition presented by the [FONT="]Rosemary Beach Foundation. “Music in Pictures” is open to all students in grade K-12 in the Walton County school system--both public and private. [/FONT]
[FONT="]The goals are:[/FONT]
[FONT="]The program begins in September 2011. Educators will receive CDs of symphonic music selected by members of the Florida State University music faculty and Sinfonia Gulf Coast. Students will first learn about the composer, listen to the music and then create a picture of their interpretation of the musical selection while the music is being played. [/FONT]
[FONT="]The art will be submitted to Rosemary Beach Foundation in late November 2011. A panel of judges will select finalists based upon the interpretation of the music. Winners will be announced in January 2012 and their art will be displayed in Rosemary Beach in February 2012. [/FONT]
[FONT="]Five finalists will be awarded a cash prize at the “Classical Connections” (a partnership with Sinfonia Gulf Coast) at the February 17 & 18, 2012, performance by Amernet String Quartet, in the Rosemary Beach Town Hall. [/FONT]
