STRONG ARTS: Sunburst Beach Vacations and Seaside Rep team up for membership drive

Advertorial by Kevin Boyle, Special to The Sun
For the team at Sunburst Beach Vacations, being a supporter of the community comes with the territory of owning a local company. It also has to go beyond just donating money and getting some promotion in return. As the partner of events such as the Seaside School Half Marathon and 5K and the 30A Songwriter’s Festival, Sunburst offers lodging specials and accommodations.
This Oct. 4, Sunburst will open up one of their luxury homes, Sea Sabella in Seaside, to host a membership party for the Seaside Repertory Theatre. The event will feature food, drinks and an opportunity for a guest to win a stay in the Gulf front home.
“We wanted to continue our support of the Rep,” says Sunburst co-owner Steve Howard. “It’s important that we not only offer our support, but also ideas that can broaden the success of that support. This year, we decided that it would be a good idea to showcase Sea Sabella by throwing a party to help drum up memberships for the theatre.”
The Rep could not agree more.
“We’re excited for this opportunity with Sunburst because membership matters more than many people understand. Even when every seat in the Meeting Hall Theatre is filled, ticket sales cover very little of a professional theatre’s operating expenses,” says chair of the membership committee Marie Solomon. “Memberships and corporate sponsorships help close that gap between ticket income and the actual expenses of quality, professional theater.”
October marks the opening of a new production for the Rep, “The Turn of the Screw” by Jeremy Hatcher (Oct. 6-22, Thursday-Saturday, $25) helping illustrate the need for donations in the form of memberships.
“When you become a member or sponsor of the Seaside Rep, your dollars go directly to support the main stage productions, the education, mentoring, and intern programs for our local schools, outdoor summer theater along 30A, and ensure the long-term success of the arts in our community,” says Rep artistic director Brook Stetler. “If you have been thinking of ways you can support the growth and long-term success of the arts in South Walton, please consider joining us as a member of the Seaside Repertory Theatre, because strong communities have strong arts presence.”
