Folks, it's time to keep an eye on your cash registers as business owners. Seacrest Sundries was robbed Friday night January 22nd and the theives took only loose cash, same M.O. as the robbery at The Hibiscus earlier this month.
The thief or thieves ignored change and any other items and only took paper currency. We don't know how they got in, there was no forced entry, but everyone must be aware that there is someone on 30A, taking advantage of our trusting good nature.

Not trying to start anything, but if there was no forced entry was this an employee? I don't think we have any accomplished lock picks in the area.

Don't be too sure. Go to youtube and search for how to pick a lock. You will be shocked.

this pattern is very disturbing. all of these small businesses work so hard to stay open. the last thing they need is to be robbed. perhaps it is a better idea to take your cash and rethink where you keep it after hours. it's a darn shame it has come to that but it's the real world. i'm starting to wonder if the person who is committing these crimes has worked at all these places at some time or another, has acted as a customer in these places scouting the business or could even have had a "friend" do so for them. my bet is the person needs cash for drugs...a thought that has probably crossed a lot of residents minds since that is our most prevalent crime here.

Thanks to those that have commented and made suggestions. I don't believe we have to worry about lock pickers at this point. Unfortunately, there were more keys to our business, in play than we realized and our trusting nature "cost" us. Our locks have been changed and our lesson learned. Security has been added to keep those who just have to have, what someone else has on notice.
There is still no better place to live and no better folks in the world to have as friends and customers!
