FRIENDS & CUSTOMERS OF SCOTTY?S AUTO REPAIR, INC. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

DUE TO THE EXPANSION OF STATE HIGHWAY 331, THE BUILDING WE CURRENTLY RENT HAS TO GET DOWN SIZED TO WHERE WE WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO STAY AT THIS LOCATION--WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO RELOCATE SINCE OCTOBER, 2007. WE HAVE FOUND SOME INFILL SIGHTS THAT HAS LIGHT INDUSTRIAL ALL AROUND IT, BUT FROM WHAT WE WERE TOLD IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET LAND REZONED IN SOUTH WALTON. WE WOULD LIKE TO MOVE SOUTH OF THE BRIDGE TO BE CLOSER TO HOME FOR OUR CHILDREN AND CLOSER TO THE PARTS HOUSES. WE ARE HOPEFUL THAT BY POSTING THIS MESSAGE THAT MAYBE SOMEONE HAS SOME INSIGHT AS TO A POSIBBLE LOCATION AND/OR A WAY TO REZONE LAND. WE DO NOT NEED OR WANT TO BE ON A MAIN HIGHWAY. WE NEED ABOUT 1 ACRE OF AFFORDABLE LAND. WE CURRENTLY HAVE TO VACATE THE BUILDING BY DEC. 31, 2008. WE ARE VERY THANKFULL TO OUR CUSTOMERS AS THEY ARE THE ONES WHO KEEP US IN BUSINESS.

Please call (850) 835-4866

You can read on this forum that these are good people that offer great service. I hope someone can help them out. We need to keep Scotty's open.

Government regulation in Walton County is going to prevent this guy from doing much if you ask me. Everyone in land planning tells me it takes 18-24 months to get a land use change done in this county. Two commissioners promised to start the discussion zoning over a year ago. I am still waiting.A perfect example of how government regulation is holding back what appears to be a great, viable business.

I have a friend in PC that wanted to move his high end car repair shop to South Walton. While looking for property we kept running into the zoning problem :bang:that WRobert just spoke of. It is very frustrating that there are bussiness' that are needed in SoWal but the zoning will not allow for them. So we end up, most of the time, having to venture to another County. I just don't understand it...:dunno:

I hope you find somewhere, you have been our car shop for years now and have helped me out immensely several times. Keep looking and somewhere is bound to show up. Does it need to have a building suitable for your business already on the lot?
Down 393 south, there is the spot where Henegars tires used to be but I am not sure if the building still stands.

That would be a good spot - would think the zoning is ok since it's near warehouses and used to be a car service.

Doubt the building is reusable for their needs, but I would LOVE if they were there!

Designation as a "Scenic Corridor" doesn't help when it comes to getting needed, but unattractive, service facilities closer to home. Another Frou-Frou Gallery stocked with over-priced useless junk?...why of course! A paint and body shop to hammer out the dents and fix the scratches on our cars?...no way!

No the land doesn't need to have a building on it. We looked at at property across the street from the old tire place, but was told they could not change 'infill' to 'light industrial' att.

Why does a car repair shop qualify as light industrial? Oil disposal? :dunno:

Growing up, the local car repair shop was one of the few businesses located IN a residential neighborhood. Quite convenient as it was downhill from the house, so you didn't need a tow truck!
