Science Workshops at Perpetual Imagination

Science Workshops start next weekend, Saturday, December 1, at Perpetual Imagination for elementary school children! If the demand is there, we will also offer workshops for middle and high school kids. Our first topics are:

Microscopic Exploration: The "Invisible" World Around Us, on Saturday, 12/1 from 10:00 - 12:00 and from 2:00 - 4:00 and on Wednesday, 12/5 from 3:00 - 5:00. Cost is $30 per child.

Kaleidoscope Building & Optics, on Sunday, 12/2 from 2:00 - 4:00, on Tuesday, 12/4 from 3:00 - 5:00, and on Saturday, 12/8 from 10:00 - 12:00. Cost is $35 per child.

Polymer Chemistry: Make a Rubber Ball, on Thursday, 12/6 from 3:00 - 5:00, Saturday, 12/8 from 2:00 - 4:00, and Sunday, 12/9 from 2:00 - 4:00. Cost is $30 per child.

Call the store at 231-1400 or stop by to sign up. Space is limited to 10 children per workshop. Watch for more topics every week in December (same times and weekdays, new workshops)!

My daughter started, 9th grade, high school at South Walton this year....but she doesn't have Biology until second semester. This is great!!!! As soon as I can find out some info about what she is required to do we'll be there!!!

For pre-schoolers, we have at least one topic coming up in a couple of weeks, Light and Color. Also, I think some 4 year olds could do the microscope and kaleidoscope activities. Call and talk to me if you are interested in having your 4 year old attend these workshops. If we have enough people interested, we will add a preschool group on a week day during school hours and do some more topics on their level.

I would also love to see some high school students who are interested in more in-depth workshops in these or other topics. Please let me know how many of you are interested and what topic ideas you may be interested in. I have taught college biology, zoology, physical science, and earth science, and I taught high school environmental science, ecology, biology, and human anatomy. I also taught a couple of algebra and applied math classes and have a good background in chemistry. That should give you a basic idea of what topic areas we can work with. I will offer workshops for high school students based only on demand. If we have a group of at least 10 interested, I'm there!

We're working on the website, www.perpetualimagination.net. We plan to launch it within a week. I'll post something when it is up and running.

The Color and Light workshop could be done with 3-year olds, but I'm not sure about adding a 3-year old to an older group to do this. We could add a 3 year old group for this one if enough of you guys are interested in doing it. We only need 10, maybe less (like 6), with this age group.
