last night mr. angel's flight from atlanta to ecp was cancelled. why? because a 15 minute delay (due to rain issues) would have had the plane come in at 11:10 pm - ten minutes past ecp's bedtime. so delta had to put everyone up at hotels and then fly them in this morning. what's up with that?

reminds me of the old john denver song:
Ah, but after the sunset, the dusk and the twilight, when shadows of night start to fall;
They roll back the sidewalk precisely at ten and people who live there are not seen again.

As someone who has had many a vending machine/ziploc o' cheerios dinner while traveling, I can say that an airport that closes at 11 pm is actually better than most.

My guess is that it was less about ECP's bedtime and more about the flight crew getting the required down time before the scheduled morning flight.

ummmmmm . . . well, it means that they roll up the sidewalks at night and everyone goes to bed early. in other words, ecp closes down EARLY and planes can't land after 11 pm. not exactly conducive to running a bustling, "international" airport.

I knew what you meant. :lolabove:. I just couldn't believe they shut down that early....

actually, the flight crew had arrived and then had to deplane because of the timing. mr. angel said the passengers went NUTS to have been so close to departure!

It's common for more urban airports to have to negotiate 'quiet hours' with adjacent neighborhoods. London Heathrow particularly has some pretty heavy restrictions on red eye takeoffs and landings in order to let nearby neighbors have a chance at sleep.

our house in cincinnati is in a direct flight path for delta at cvg. i can attest to the fact that night time is NOT a problem - daytime is, especially if you want to have a conversation with someone while in your yard or garden.
