Really cheap books alert

They don't officially say it, but it looks like the remnant Bargain Books place in Destin next to Best Buy is closing down soon. All books are $1 no matter what the original price is. Some sections like cookbooks are already pretty picked over but they've still got some good stuff there.

Thanks for the tip, beachmouse. Last time I was there everything was 50% off, but $1 a book is practically free. And yes, the clerk told me they are closing in January, the 10th I think.

I saw the place but didn't go in as had just stocked up at the library. The library book sales are usually 50 for a paperback and $1 for a hardcover, so hard to pass up!

Bet there are some good coffee table books at that place.

Is it a coffee table type book? They have a section of those. Many of their books are recently released, but any best-sellers they may have had (few) would be gone by now. They do have pretty fair selection of new age type books. It's probably worth a visit. I heard the clerk tell someone today that they will likely close before January 10th since they are selling out so quickly. I bought 25 books for 25 bucks. Can't be that.

Also, she said they will re-open in the area if they can find similar space at a similar price. And when I asked who was moving in, she said she thought it was an organic food market.

Too bad the space over by Home Depot/Fresh Market/Marshal's probably has never been finished off because I suspect that someone would be glad to have some sort of income going into that space. Or maybe one of the old Circuit City buildings in the area.

As for what would go into that space, at one time there was talk of Cost Plus/World Market going into that shopping center before they ended up going by Panama City Mall instead. Wonder if they're giving Destin a second look.
