The Florida Department of Transportation is hosting a construction public information open house, Tuesday, November 15, 2016 for the widening project on State Road (S.R.) 30 (U.S. 98), from Emerald Bay Drive to Tang-O-Mar Drive, in Walton County. Construction activities along the corridor will begin fall 2016 and are slated for completion summer 2020.
The meeting will be held in an open house format, there will be no formal presentation. FDOT personnel will be available to provide information about planned construction work and potential impacts.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Three is working to improve approximately 3.37-miles of State Road 30 (U.S. 98) in Walton County.
The project includes:
• Widening U.S. 98 from four to six lanes between Emerald Bay Drive and Tang-O-Mar Drive.
• Adding new sidewalks and bicycle paths along each side of U.S. 98.
• Constructing four new stormwater detention ponds.
• Installing new traffic signals.
• Making drainage improvements.
The $42 million U.S. 98 widening project will help relieve congestion and improve traffic flow on U.S. 98 for the estimated 46,000 drivers who travel this roadway daily. The sidewalks and bicycle lanes will also increase capacity and access for pedestrians, especially during tourist season.
The work is scheduled to begin fall 2016 and is slated for completion summer 2020.
