That was interesting. We broadcast from Finz at Sandestin in South Walton and the Miramar Beach area. For the first hour though, Peter Greenberg identified the place as Destin. After explaining, he switched to Miramar Beach. Website still has Destin up on it. Guess they will edit and correct soon.
Lots of fun people being interviewed. Locals live and sitting across the table from Peter Greenberg were mixed in with some national guests by remote line. Tom Losee, co-founder of Yolo Board; Zandra Wolfgram, contributing writer for Emerald Coast Magazine, etc. and myself are also featured on a local travel guide page. Chan was there, too, and did a great interview on the Sandestin Wine Festival. He also brought along some great cheese for snacking. Michelle was there, too. The section also says Destin and can only hope they correct soon.
Peter is certainly a professional and directs and manages his show. He had a producer on site along with others on the phone and on-line. You only have about six minutes interjected with his witty and strong personality. The conversation definitly goes in the direction he is leading, but it is a conversation. He made us put up any notes etc. that we might have brought along.
I did manage to mention SoWal at least once so hope to hear the show soon. When you click on my name, Brenda Rees, Shaping Florida, in the locals guide it takes you to my SoWal History Blog. Sarika Chawla who edits his "Ask The Locals Travel Guide" did come on and mention the Santa Rosa Beach Centennial Celebration at Gulf Place planned for September 11 and 12 I'd sent in for consideration. They archive the shows. Guess it will be up soon. It was a hoot and different than I imagined even though I had listened to some of his archive shows and read his bio. Will watch for him more on CBS. Will also try to listen to broadcast once it is up in the archives. Will be curious about response and how helpful this is in getting out more correct information on our area.
Peter had driven through Niceville on his way to SoWal having flown in to Okaloosa County. He thought that was a cool name - reminded him of Peasantville. If there had been time I'd have mentioned Seaside and "The Truman Show." We did discuss Southwest Airlines coming to the new airport over in Bay County.
