Aside from the traffic irritation, safety concerns and other nuisances these scooters cause, now there is even a better reason to ban them and keep them from growing in our area.
Scooter business in Panama City Beach fined $110,000, ordered to give refunds
The owners of a Panama City Beach scooter rental business with five locations, have been fined more than $100,000 for "charging consumers for damage that didn't occur."
The fine comes as part of a 29 page settlement that was reached May 9th but only released Wednesday.
As part of the settlement, certain customers may also be due a partial refund.
"We haven't been ripping off customers. We actually settled with the AG's (Attorney General's) office because we did not want to fight," said Colleen Swab, the California Cycles owner.
"We settled with the AG's (Attorney General's) office because it was the economic smart thing to do. We didn't do anything wrong and they know that," continued Swab.
