Hello fellow local SOWAL ers and out of town SOWAL ers!
My name is Ryan DeVore and I have been a member on the board for a few months now, and after following along to many posts, I first wanted to introduce myself and tell you all a little bit about me and what I have been doing here for 9 years.
I moved here in the winter of 1999. The first time I saw the beach was just after midnight and I thought the sand was snow! From that moment on, I knew I wanted to live here. I am sure that many of you have similar experiences reiterating the fact that the beach and water are what draw us to this area. To me, there is not a more beautiful place in the continental US.
In the fall of 2000 after managing ONO Surf Shop in Seaside for a year, I came to a conclusion that I wanted to share with people what I truly love about this area, Ocean Sports!
In the Spring of 2001, I held my first classes teaching individuals the joy of ocean sports including surfing, kayaking, skimboarding, boogie boarding, and snorkeling. KIDZ BEACH and SURF AND SKIM SKOOL started in Seaside, is now based in Watercolor Resort. I am proud to say we have taught over 3000 people to date.
Kidz Beach, a program for kids ages 8 and up is offered throughout the Spring and Summer months. It is a 3 hour program from 9 am to noon. Each day is unique, in that what is taught and emphasized depends on the ocean?s conditions for that particular day. We also offer private or group lessons on any ocean sport through Surf and Skim Skool, which is for all ages; offered year-round by appointment.
In addition to our Watercolor location we have expanded, adding a 2nd location for this summer. We will be at the public beach access between Seaside and Watercolor, where they just built the largest parking lot for public access on 30-A!
Also new this year I am excited to introduced R.Y.N.O. Rentals. Through R.Y.N.O. we provide rentals and FREE delivery of ocean sports and beach bikes. We have bikes, surfboards, skimboards, body boards, kayaks, snorkel gear, paddle boards, and longboard skateboards (for all ages and sizes). We also offer lessons and sales.

My goals for this year are:
Create the 1st Surf Club on 30-A.
Create a surf team for the locals to travel to southeast competitions.
Host local surf and skim competitions this summer
Host outdoor surf flick movie nights (a couple nights each summer month)
